Skoda has announced a recall for select units of its popular models, the Kushaq and Slavia, due to a serious issue related to faulty welding. This recall affects a total of 52 vehicles manufactured between November 29, 2023, and January 20, 2024. Specifically, 14 units of the Kushaq and Slavia are impacted, alongside their Volkswagen counterparts, the Taigun and Virtus.
The problem arises from a production irregularity at the component supplier’s facility, where it is suspected that the weld seam on the track control arm may have been improperly executed during manufacturing. If this component fails while driving, it could lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control and stability, posing significant safety risks for drivers and passengers alike.
While Skoda has yet to issue an official statement regarding the recall, it has been listed on the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) voluntary recall website. The company is expected to reach out to owners of the affected vehicles to arrange for inspections and necessary repairs at authorized service centers. As with most recalls, these inspections and any required fixes will be conducted free of charge.
This situation highlights Skoda‘s commitment to safety and quality control in its manufacturing processes. By proactively addressing this welding issue, Skoda aims to maintain consumer trust and ensure the safety of its vehicles on the road. Owners of the Kushaq and Slavia are encouraged to stay informed and take action if they receive communication regarding this recall.
